Shelby GT500 2013The Shelby Mustang is a high performance variant of the Ford Mustang which was built by Shelby American from 1965 through 1970. Following the introduction of the fifth generation Ford Mustang, the Shelby nameplate was revived in 2007 for new high performance versions of the Mustang. First unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2011, the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is the most potent Mustang ever. Powered by a 5.8 supercharged V8 engine, the 2013 GT500 boasts 650bph, produces 600lbs-ft of torque and is expected to be the first production Mustang to reach 200mph. Notably, the new GT500 is expected to be rather light for a muscle car, weighing 3,850lbs. In February, 2012, at the Chicago Auto Show, it is officially announced that a convertible version of the 2013 GT500 is in production. However, it is emphasized that, for safety concerns, its top speed will be limited to 155mph.
